Avery Versus Pins

I've loved teaching myself to embroider little pins.  I took inspiration from my favorite foods and the iconic Kenzo eye graphic.  These pins will be up on my etsy shop very soon.

Avery Versus Seattle

When my family came to visit me in Portland, we decided to take a little road trip to Seattle, Washington, approximately three hours away!  Traffic in the city was hell, but it was worth it.  The day was gorgeous - eighty degrees warm, clear skies, a light breeze, and full of art and life.  I loved the view from the Space Needle and the ferris wheel over the water, the inspiration behind the Chihuly garden and Glass Museum, and the liveliness of the city.

We didn't get to spend a whole lot of time in Seattle.  I'd really love to go back soon in order to experience more of what this lovely city has to offer.

Avery Versus Home

I woke up to this gorgeous sunrise, got some cash, packed the last of my things, and headed to the Portland Airport. I was finally going back home!

Going back meant many things to me.  My fall quarter of college was done, I could finally go outside without freezing my butt off, and I would see my friends again.  I'm actually most excited about eating all the local food I've been craving.  My flight arrived yesterday and I spent today with my friends at the beach and driving around town. I missed them.

Today's skies were cloudy, but my day was lovely. I can't wait to go to the beach some more.  I'll be praying that the weather clears up to that warm Hawaii winter I love.

Avery Versus Wes Anderson

I've loved Wes Anderson films for a very long time.  I think the first film I saw was The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou.  Since then I was hooked on Anderson's signature framing, pacing, and soundtrack style.  I've kept up with all of his films.  However, I've found really great inspiration with Moonrise Kingdom.

Many of these pins were meant for my boyfriend and I to wear for Halloween (we were supposed to be Suzy and Sam from Moonrise Kingdom).  But now I've decided to share the love through my etsy shop.  These pins range from $3.00 - $5.00 and can be bundled for lower shipping rates.

Avery Versus Black Friday

Where has the time gone?  Thanksgiving is this Thursday and I can't wait to spend it with my roomies, but I really miss my family back home in Hawaii.  I remember our huge Thanksgiving dinners and delicious potluck buffet.  November and December are my favorite months of the year.  As soon as November 1st rolls around I blast the Christmas music and dream about finding gifts for my family and closest friends.  It just so happens that Black Friday is the perfect day to find Christmas gifts for my loved ones (and myself).

I've been doing a little pre-Black Friday shopping online and in stores.  I've found some great potential gifts for my family and my friends.  I've decided not to picture a few of these gifts so I could keep the mystery of Christmas alive!  Anyway, here are some of my favorite finds so far.

 1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6 // 7 // 8 // 9

Of course a few of these wishes are for myself.  It's almost impossible to only shop for others on Black Friday.  However, I'm trying to limit myself to only buying a Christmas party dress, one pair of reasonably priced shoes, a chunky button-up cardigan, and a new pair of earphones to replace my broken ones.  Hopefully publishing this on the blog will help me keep my promise to myself.

It's been hard to find gifts for my boyfriend.  He's a fashionable, nerdy, photography loving nineteen year old boy and if anyone has any suggestions for Christmas gifts, please comment below!

Avery Versus Etsy

I've loved Etsy for a long time now.  I have found some amazing treasures, discovered an unhealthy obsession for metal jewelry, created an endless wedding wishlist, and started my own little shop.  Sometimes I peruse the infinite shops to pass the time, while other times I am on a hunt for the perfect gift for a friend or for myself,
which I successfully find because Etsy is a wonderful creative space.

My personal wishlist is getting quite large so I thought I would share some recent standouts on this blog.  Just click on the image to view the listing.  To view the rest of my favorites, follow me on Etsy!

Avery Versus Ebay

It's really fall here in Portland, Oregon! The weather is fluctuating between blue skies, dark cloudy skies, drizzles, and showers.  This weather calls for fall layering and a hefty coat.  After searching the racks in physical stores, I turned to Ebay.  I've had positive and negative experiences on eBay, but I am willing to take a chance on cute, affordable coats.

Ebay is great for affordable, stylish pieces as long as you take accurate measurements and are prepared for imperfections.  This is my top pick for coats:

Also, I have decided to organize my closet and put a few items up for sale on Ebay.  I've made half of the items public already, and plan to publish the other items soon.  Among the items to come are a Tobi sweater knit cocoon cardigan, a Eugenia Kim via Nasty Gal faux fur collar (73% OFF), a TopShop Hawaiian print cutout skater dress, and a pair of Jeffrey Campbell Matara gladiator sandals (65% OFF).

Here are links of the items already for sale in my Ebay shop:
